Why Fear Conquers our Time?
There is a popular factoid that, every human being has at least 40000 thoughts in a single day. Yeah, Many of us Know it. And we never sat down and never counted them one by one. Anyway, it is a popular belief and tends to change person by person.
Recently, to be precise I have learned an interesting idea that what are the motives behind this much thought? if I remember correctly popular tech entrepreneur Naval Ravikat quoted Jiddu Krishnamurthy on this topic. He says ‘ 90% of our thoughts come from fear and the remainder from desire’.
Yes, FEAR!. rethink that multiple times. in the course of human evolution fear played a major motive behind everything. from the discovery of fire from stones to the flaming log ‘Tinder’. then we want to have protected ourselves from animals, now we want to protect ourselves from not ‘having a relationship’.
how to find it that one thought is based on fear or not. the action induced by fear is just more than necessity. we work, clean our house and just take a bath. if someone does not want to go out the number of times he goes under the shower will be drastically reduced for sure. There are exceptions like Lady Gaga!
another one is fear of questions. from day one we are facing questions from society. it ranges from the selection of toys to the selection of care homes. and just like a wave, the peak is your 25–35 period. you will face questions about marriage, family, kids, the list goes on…..
i always thought that many of us try to ignore these questions but deep down these are gonna induce self-doubt and fear. this is why many of us getting married even though we are not ready!
Another Popular trend in Fear is FOMO(fear of missing out). it is definitely the best marketing strategy used by many of today’s companies. Most prominently White hat Jr. these days. Hrithik Roshan induces fear in parents that their children will lose the race. but if everyone in this country or world became a person who makes apps and software, then this drastic monotonous earth will be hell. one of the basic principles in investing is diversification. society should invest its focus on diversification. we need artists, musicians, writers, and a wide variety of tea tasters.
FOMO is deep-rooted in society. when the sale on Amazon or Flipkart is on if we don't buy something we will miss that ‘steal deal’! What's the point in piling up crap on your backyard and storeroom?
new fashion trends, gadgets, even a TV Series. it's like everyone is talking about a Series and if I didn't watch it, I will be left out from the talk.
there is an innumerable number of topics in the world, why do you stick into that specifically? there is no necessity to sacrifice the quality time you spend with friends or family for a Modern-day ‘Soap Opera’.
the WhatsApp statuses, Instagram gram stories should not influence your segmentation of time. It's your life. why should we bother about unnecessary fads?
life is a game we play alone in our heads. it's true that nobody in this world like us. nobody can replicate the same thoughts we are having, not even your twin sister! Never play by the societal rules. There is only one life, the one thing that is most valuable than anything. Find people, Make good relationships, read great books, listen to your favorite podcasts and Be happy inside your head. You don't have to show with a big fat smile on your face. Just be happy inside, if you feel like you want to express, then smile, laugh like nobody is watching!
Have a Great Day!
