How Much We Spend On Ourselves?

A normal budget of a middle-class family might allocate lion share of their monthly income for the essentials(Not might, they have to). The rest they use for Paying off the debt. If something is left even after then, they spend for luxury. By luxury I mean, The money spend on an outing, a movie together, or dinner from a decent restaurant.

Now I am gonna add another indigestible idea. How much money do we spend every month on our personal improvement and personal wealth?

Lemme repeat a story from one of my older posts. One of my friends, who wants to buy quality equipment for his work. So he used a large share of his money for the ‘Personal development’. He was a history major and now he works as a designer, which is his passion, and got a job in the wake of 2021. That Job offer was a complete surprise for him and his family too. They never thought that he could get this much of a salary from being an artist!

let's talk about us. the root cause of whatever issue we have could be treated with investing some money for our personal growth. I am not saying that you could pay off a huge sum of a debt or something like that. But you can use a little bit of money to enroll to learn a new skill, which will eventually add up to your value and revenue resources. this is will be an additional helping hand. For many, a side hustle they grew pays them double or triple of the money they get from a regular job. In the future, we could convert these side hustles to our professions. It is risky but worthy.

Now, Imagine you are feeling not so encouraged to go out for a walk or jogging or any kind of exercise. Buy a quality pair of running shoes. You will be motivated to wake up, at least to wear that show. This technique could be employed in other fields too. So think of having a lazy kid who is so reluctant to go to the gym or something. Give him/her a branded gym clothes and equipment. We can fool our monkey minds using this technique. It's a kind of exploitation but worthy.

Now, one youtube channel I usually watch is The Urban Fight. The lady who owns the channel was not so proficient in public talking. You won't think if you watch it. But she joined the ‘Toastmasters’ public speaking forum with paying a small sum(not so small). Friends were like, why are you paying money for talking to some audience. It actually gave her career a good turn. She started a youtube channel, earns a good amount of money, still keeping her day-to-day job as a software engineer.

So again my point is, spending money for personal wealth is like investing in a high return fund. You are guaranteed to get great returns. One or another form. for the past 3–4 months, I spend 7/8 % of the money I earn (the income I have is still so small) on my personal growth. I bought a whiteboard, which helped me to plan my day efficiently. A pair of workout clothes, thus I go for a walk every day.

So next time, you plan a budget give a small consideration for personal well-being. It will change and enable you to be the best version of yourself. At least you will find, what is your special skill is!
